Mrs. Betty Mae (Worth) Rueger of Millington, Michigan passed away Wednesday December 18, 2019 at the age of 85.
Betty was born in Flint, Michigan on May 7, 1934, and was the daughter of the late William & Mazie (Crawford) Worth. Growing up in Millington Betty graduated from Millington High School with the class of 1952. On October 10, 1959 she married Harold Rueger, and together they celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing in September of 2018.
Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Frutchey Bean Elevator for several years and worked for her family's business, Worth's Market, in Millington. After having children, Betty was a stay at home mom. She enjoyed gardening with Harold and canning. Betty enjoyed playing golf at Willow Springs in which she was on the women's golf league for many years. Betty was also an avid bowler (since high school) and won many bowling awards at State Tournaments. Betty's main passion was playing softball in which she played early into her 50's. Betty was involved in a summer softball league in which she was the pitcher. She even earned the nickname of "Rowdy Rueger" from her teammates. Betty was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Millington since 1959.
Betty leaves her family. Two children; Tim (Dawn) Rueger, and Tracee Jones (Clint). She leaves also 5 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Besides her husband and parents, Betty is also preceded in death by her siblings; sister Hazel Laurich, brothers William Worth, Alan Worth and Forest Haines.
The Rueger family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington on Sunday December 22, 2019 from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm, and for a brief time on Monday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church from 10:00 am until the service begins. Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11:00 am on Monday December 23, 2019 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington, Michigan. The burial will follow at the Millington Township. Cemetery. Pastor James Bruner will deliver the funeral eulogy and the prayer of committal at the cemetery. Hanlin Funeral Home has been assisting the Rueger family with the arrangements.
