Mrs. Alice F. (Walworth) Stuart, a lifetime Vassar resident passed away early Thursday morning March 28, 2024, with her family at her side, Alice was 86.
Alice was the daughter of the late George and Bertha Walworth and was born in Vassar, Michigan on April 25, 1937. She was a graduate of the Vassar High School Class of 1955. On June 30, 1956, Alice married Selwyn Stuart and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage and two children together. Alice was employed for several years with Superfoods Grocery Warehouse as an administrative secretary. She retired in 1992. Alice was an active member of the Vassar First Presbyterian Church, an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers Fan, and loved to travel, and go on several casino trips. Above all family was her pride and joy. She had a smile that was bright and lively and her favorite expression “For heaven’s sakes” will never be forgotten.
Alice leaves her husband, Selwyn (Stu); daughter and son in-law Roxanne (Randy) Gillette, son and daughter in-law Alan (Diane) Stuart; grandchildren: David (Melissa), Jacob (Jazmine), Carrie (Steve), Kelli (Michael), Alyssa (Casey), Christopher, and Cassidy, and seven great-grandchildren. As well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Besides her parents Alice is preceded by her sister, Constance Meyer.
The Stuart family will receive friends at the Hanlin Funeral Home in Vassar, MI on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and for a brief time on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the church from 10:00 am until services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Vassar First Presbyterian Church (250 W. Huron Ave, Vassar, MI 48768). Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery in Vassar.
